Kristin Carlisle joined TxLIHIS staff in June 2004 as Policy Analyst / Development Director. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. Kristin previously worked for U.S. Congressman Charles A. Gonzalez as a Legislative Aide handling policy issues ranging from housing to women's rights. In her spare time, she volunteered at a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, Horton’s Kids, which provides educational services to children living in the city’s impoverished Anacostia neighborhood.

Kristin's work at TxLIHIS has ranged from public relations, to writing/editing, to fundraising, to advocacy. She successfully worked during the 79th session of the Texas Legislature to build a diverse, broad-based coalition of advocates to halt legislation that was detrimental to the ability of Texas' working poor families to obtain decent homes.
