The Texas Tenant Advisor was written for Texas tenants
renting their home or renting the lot for their mobile
home. It is biased. If you want information from the
landlord's perspective contact the Texas Apartment
Association.
Learning your rights is only the starting place. The Texas
Tenants Advisor does not just want you to understand what
to do; we want you to go do it. For many of the subjects
covered, we provide step by step instructions. We also have
video clips to help give you a better understanding of the
information. If we tell you to send the landlord a notice,
we provide you a form notice to just download and fill out.
If you need to sue, we provide a form lawsuit and
instructions on how to file it. If there are Texas statutes
on the subject then we have also made these available so
you can read it yourself. Texas tenant rights are few, so
use what you do have.
The
Texas Tenant Advisor is sponsored by the Texas Low Income
Housing Information Service and is intended to provide
general information regarding Texas residential tenancies
only. Unique facts can render some statements inapplicable
to a given situation. We attempt to provide current
information; nonetheless, you are urged to consult an
attorney for legal advice and assistance.
